About the Order

The Hidden Light (Canada) is an Outer Court branch of the Fraternity of the Hidden Light. We are a modern manifestation of the True and Invisible Rosicrucian Order which has existed throughout time in one form or another. As a 'contacted' order we serve the Light and the Will of the One. As such we accept all students into the Outer Court regardless of race, nationality, religious background or sexual orientation.

The teachings of the Order are based on the Mystical or Hermetic Qabalah, Alchemy, Magic, Astrology and Tarot; in essence, the Western Mystery Tradition.

The Outer Court

Not everyone is called to be an Initiate of the Great Schools, or of any particular Order; and if they are it may be difficult to find one's way home in this incarnation. Since ancient times the Orders have been called upon to run what are known as "Outer Court" programs, named after the courtyard outside of the temples which were used for this purpose. The Outer Court was a place where the Initiates of the order would go and teach the Probationers the basic methods and ideals of the Order in question. Not only did this allow them to spread the light of Occult Wisdom amongst the people, but it also helped to identify the true seekers who were a good match for the Order in question and help prepare them for possible Initiation.

The Probationer, having made no long-term commitment to the Order, was free to seek elsewhere if he or she felt that their own spiritual, philosophical or moral needs and tendancies were not being met. By the process of each order maintaining an Outer Court program students were more likely to find their true spiritual homes rather than stay with a method of teaching which was unsuited to them.

In the modern world Orders like our own offer this Outer Court experience through correspondance courses and on-line forums. Technology has taken the place of the Temple Gardens, but the spirit remains and reaches across the globe. Thus is the purpose of our Probationer's Program, the Outer Court of our Order embracing all seekers of the Light.
